Meditation Cafe: Back To The Roots

Our Meditation practice can create a fertile soil in which life takes root. What has been planted? What is growing? Beautiful fragrant flowers, playful ferns, strong Oak Trees? Or is your psychological landscape overrun with weeds?

There’s no need to demonise the weeds though. Talk to any herbalist and they’ll tell you of the healing powers that are contained within them. Meditation can, like a good herbalist, turn them into healing tinctures that strengthen our nervous system, internal balms that soothe ragged senses and elixirs that awaken revelation.

It has been said that weeds are simply plants that many deem un pretty, although they do seem to spread rampantly and some even strangle and restrict the growth of other plant beings when left unchecked.

Meditation can help us to dis-create the weeds of our unhelpful conditioned psychological patterns of thinking and ingrained beliefs at their root. It helps us to unbind from their often sticky grip and turns them into Medicine as we unearth the Wisdom and Healing that is contained within them.

As we begin to see with Presence, that which appears to restrict us, obscure our vision and smother and overwhelm us, there’s an invitation to growth, to become stronger, more resilient and to create healthier boundaries.

In Meditation we may see clearly our tendencies, beliefs and thought patterns arising and we learn to meet them with non-judgement and our loving Presence instead of pushing them away or ignoring them.

In this loving Presence, not only do the roots of these old patterns and beliefs that are strangling our creativity and authentic expression begin to dissolve but that which is our innate, inner beauty that is wanting to grow, is watered and invited to blossom. Unlike gardening in the external world which requires a lot of physical effort, our internal garden requires the opposite.

In Meditation, it could be said, that the root of our experience grows from the Silence within. From the fruitful, silent darkness, all life and light and sound emerges.

When we find our inner landscape overgrown there’s an invitation to close our eyes and remember again that at our core we are that Silence, that there is Magick in our garden. By simply remembering and giving attention to that which we truly are on the inside, encourages our outer garden to flourish.

A reminder I’ll be at Back To The Roots Festival again this August (9th-12th), supporting my lovely friend Estella Ramos and the Conscious Buddy Community with another Silent Sanctuary and opportunities to learn how to Meditate.

There’ll also be Music, Movement Practices, Dancing, Talks and Workshops and so much more. Please check out the fullness of whats on offer here and book your tickets here. If you’re a member of the The Silent Revolution Telegram Group, contact me for a discount code.
