Meditation Cafe: Silence Is Underrated

I was listening to a well known astrologer the other day whom was talking about an asteroid called Chariklo. In mythology Chariklo is Chiron’s wife. Chiron is a centaur known as the wounded healer and in astrology, depending on which sign and house he lands in at the time of your birth, relates to the area you can find your deepest psychological wound.

Chiron reminds us that despite our owns wounds, we can still offer great Wisdom and healing to others. Our own lived journey of healing brings encouragement to others to keep going, to expand beyond our perceived limitations, to not let our wounds get in the way of us living. In actively working with them and healing them, we turn our wounds into our greatest strengths that support us in fulfilling and living our life’s luminous intent as we become a beacon of hope for others.

There’s much written about Chiron but not so much about Chariklo. Like Chiron she’s a master healer, known as the Shaman, in myth she has the ability to shapeshift from centaur to water nymph. She heals through holding space and is said to support Athena, the Goddess of wisdom, protection, and strength and Vesta, the Goddess of hearth and fire. As asteroid she is considered a celestial body of Grace, Healing and Compassion.

I get the sense from researching Chariklo that she reawakens in us a memory that deep within we truly desire to support life because we are life. Her energies encourage us to lift others up, to support the fulfilment of others dreams, not just our own.

Where Chiron represents the use of natural, Earth Medicine, Chariklo represents Spirit Medicine. It is through our ability to rest in Stillness and listen deeply in the Silence, that the voice of our own true Spirit and luminous light awakens. This is also the space through which we hear the guidance and Wisdom of our Ancestors, Guardian Spirits and Angels.

Astrologer Tanaaz of Forever Conscious says this about the celestial pair,

“Together Chiron and Chariklo represent the healing qualities of the divine feminine and the divine masculine. These qualities are not about gender, they are instead, energetic expressions that when in balance, can bring a sense of harmony and unity to our mind, body, and soul.”

The astrologer I was listening to is the wonderful Pam Gregory. I deeply respect her work and she appears very accurate in her astrological calculations in relation to what occurs in the outside world. The observation I’m making here is of a wider pattern that I see prevalent in the Spiritual community generally regarding the Silence.

Pam had this to say on Chariklo,

“Chariklo is linked with the Buddhist eternal state of pure being and profound Stillness that is always there… When stressed and panicked (one can use a breath practice as means of) tapping into this exquisite, permanent Stillness, this state of Chariklo, that’s always there.”

On hearing these words it hit me, by the way she described tapping into the Stillness (which I and many also call the Silence), that this is where the problem for many of us lies. There was a fleetingness in which she described the Stillness, like if you blinked you would have missed it’s importance or merely passed it by. The tapping into stillness when stressed and panicked, being like mistaking gold for coal comes to mind, ie trying to use it to light a fire when you’re cold instead of realising that you are the gold and it is the Source of your own warmth and light.

I had the wonderful Grace of getting to listen to one of my old Ascension Meditation teachers Narain Ishaya yesterday, whom said this on the topic of experiencing more Silence,

“It is less of a change of circumstance, more a change of identity.”

Let that sink in, so deep that it washes away all thoughts of you being anything less than exquisite, permanent Stillness.

What encourages me, is that the Stillness, the Silence, is being talked about, that there is awareness of it even if the importance of it in the mainstream is not yet recognised and like Chariklo, it is still (no pun intended😆) in the background, not the foreground of our collective direct experience.

So how do we shift our awareness of Silence to the foreground? Read Narian’s quote again,

“It is less of a change of circumstance, more a change of identity.”

We sit down, we acknowledge the Silence within us, we keep coming back to it until we realise we are it and all else that distracts our mind is simply smoke and mirrors.

This is what The Silent Revolution is all about. Acknowledging the Stillness as a fundamental not fleeting part of our experience, in an integrated way that includes the Heart, the body, that doesn’t deny our humanness and engenders the compassion and the loving kindness that Chariklo brings us. If she is in our skies, this is truly a time of Consciousness awakening.

You can watch the whole of Pam’s video describing Chariklo and the upcoming astrological weather here:

Chariklo is also said to guide us through transits such as life to death, that also includes transitions of consciousness. Where you find her in your chart is also the area in which you need to learn to set boundaries.

My Chariklo is in Pisces. “What boundaries!” comes to mind 🤣. She also inhabits my 7th house (associations with Libra ruled by Venus) meaning I will benefit from learning to create strong boundaries in relationships. That explains a thing or two for sure!

My Chiron is in Aries, currently going through his transit of “return”. This wound, as you’ll hear Pam describe is all about, “Not feeling worthy to exist” and I can concur to observing these feelings arise in me over my lifetime and this need to become Aries, the warrior, to learn to fight back if necessary and stand up for myself, hence my attraction to wanting to learn Kung Fu!

Have you checked your Chiron and Chariklo placements? If so let me know if you can relate to them in the comments.

Having just researched Hekate, known as the Goddess of Witches, for my storytelling at Saturday Night @ The OM, you might be as surprised as I am to hear, Chariklo and Hekate share many identical qualities!
