It’s cosy in the boat. There’s an amber glow emanating from the log burner, mesmorising flames are dancing wildly, visible through the glass door. Tara is now thankfully snuggled on her blanket; a moment ago sprawled across my arms, a reticent, living fluffy wrist warmer, determined to thwart my attempts to start typing. She often pays me no attention until the point at which I manage to start some work!
I find myself in contemplative mood, reflecting on the many angles of life, the possibilities that may or may not come to fruition and the beautiful gifts of love, support, time and money I am Grateful to have received in these challenging past months. Whilst tidying up I found a bookmark with this quote:
IT MAY BE THAT IT IS FOR YOUR GOOD THAT THE PRAYER IS NOT GRANTED
Bhagavan Sri Ramana Marharshi

We are often told to be Grateful for what we have and it’s somewhat easy to be Grateful for (and sometimes easy to take for granted) the Beauty that appears in our lives, but what about the things, the relationships, the jobs that haven’t worked out? What about the icky things, the distortions, the projections, the things we wanted and didn’t get? Can we too be Grateful for them? What if it’s all a Blessing, albeit sometimes in an ugly mask?
Another quote I came across today:
WHAT IF THERE IS NO FAILURE, YOU EITHER WIN OR YOU LEARN
Gary Keller
Most of us, if honest, are bumbling along, doing our best, making choices that our mind labels as good or bad depending on whether the outcomes meet our expectations. What if the Universe is actually listening to the Silent voice of our Soul and pays no mind to our mind? What if what we think we want isn’t really what our Soul wants? What if what we really want has actually been within our reach all along, we just haven’t had the eyes to see it, or the courage to reach out and claim it?

On the way to see Debbie OM at The OM Studio today, I saw a poster that said, “Love Where You Live.” Last time I went to meet Debbie, I also saw that poster in a different place! I was not in a place of Gratitude, in fact frustrated that I was still in the boat. I remember sharing with her the words and we both had a little giggle about it.
I have to say, that sat here now, in this moment all cosy with my little Xmas tree and twinkly lights, I am Grateful the boat hasn’t yet sold. I am loving where I’m living and for all the opportunities and friendships that have blossomed as a result of me not getting what I wanted, as challenging as it has appeared.
There appears to be a bigger picture at play, a Divine Timing that is not in the slightest interested in my minds idea of timing. It appears I am here for the foreseeable future, the Winter at the very least and I intend to make the best of it.
