There’s a huge amount of energy gathering potency beneath your feet, right now, as Mother Nature prepares to burst forth into Spring. It is the time of Imbolc, meaning “in the belly” and a time of being open to inspiration, change and growth.

Goddess Dress!
Saturday just gone, 1st February, was St Brigids Day and it just so happened to be the day of our Saturday Night @ The OM. Before Brigid was Christianised as a Saint, Brigid was (and still is!) an adored Pagan Goddess of Poetry, Healing and Smithcraft. We couldn’t have chosen a more perfect day to share poetry, stories and song!
I am captured here sharing a story of Brigid and The Calliach, whom attempts to capture Brigid in order to prolong her reign and delay Spring, unsuccessfully, which says a lot about the potency of this time. It’s unstoppable.
Seeds in the Earth and the seeds of our destiny are awakening within us. Whether we think we are ready or not is irrelevant. Growth is happening. We can meet the quickening with enthusiasm and welcome this “new” version of ourselves that is emerging or we can cling onto the old stories about ourselves, self sabotage our growth by stamping on our own shoots with self criticism, self loathing and a lack of trust that within us, a beautiful lotus is blossoming.

Stevington Sacred Spring
Brigid’s name means, “Exhalted One” or “Shining One”. In Celtic tradition she is daughter of the Dadga, The Fae chieftain off the Magickal race, the Tuatha De Danann. Brigid is a fire and a water Goddess, especially revered at the waters of Sacred wellsprings.
Today I made my first Brigid’s cross with lovely group of ladies. Hanging a Brigid’s cross from the rafters of one’s house was believed to bring the blessing and protection of Saint Brigid for the remainder of the year. Traditionally made with reeds, ours was made with pipe cleaners! Although we all had the same amount of pipe cleaners and the same instruction, the size and look of our crosses were all completely unique.

This time of quickening can have us engaging in distraction as we try to avoid the discomfort of not knowing what will pop up from the depths of our underworld or have us running around needlessly and chaotically, as we try to force our seeds to sprout, chasing that moment of ripeness where our “in”spiration becomes outer manifestation. As we find ourselves in the liminal, in-between space, our Heart connection and Meditation practice can support us through the transition of becoming “new”, to meet our ever evolving Selves with innocence.
I’m sharing here an updated piece of writing which came from contemplating the awesome power of a seed. It’s for those that are feeling the quickening, the invitation to grow, but are letting fears of not knowing how you are going to blossom, not feeling good enough, letting anxiety of not knowing what life might look like on the other side of change, stop you from reaching out at all.

Be Like A Seed
When you’re feeling empty and in the dark, know that you’re like a seed buried deep in the earth, waiting for some nourishment to awaken you into Being.
The great Blessing of Being human is that if the rain fails to fall, if no one is around with a watering can, you have the ability to nourish yourself with the well-spring of Love that resides within your own Heart.
Sometimes, when the rain comes, you might feel “God” is personally peeing on you as you suppress feelings, that when acknowledged and released through tears, water your heart and allow you to grow stronger.
Imagine now, for a moment, if all seeds said, “No! I can’t possibly push through all that earth. There’s tarmac up there. How do you expect me to push through that? The weather might be shit. It might be raining and I might get soaked or even drown. A human might squish me or a dog might pee on me. Ewwww, that would be just awful! I think I’ll stay here in the dark, just in case.”
How sad, how barren, how colourless the world would be, if seeds had minds like humans not BEing.
