Meditation Cafe: Chakra Healing

Tonight we are doing something a little different.. A little treat for the bodymind! I will be tweaking our practice to invite some healing and harmony in our body by using the Indian Chakra system as a focal point and the source of Self enquiry to receive our Mantras.

This is a very nourishing practice for the physical vessel. There will be a little bit of guided visualisation thrown in to support the process, but do not worry if you are not a visual version, you can use your other senses to get a “feel” of what I will be describing.

Chakra translates to something like, “spinning wheel” and they (being 7 main ones on the body) are described as vital energy centres. We are most healthy when our Prana (life force energy) is flowing freely through each Chakra. At a physiological level, the Chakras relate to nerve plexuses that run along the spine.

I’m not going to go in-depth into the meanings and correspondences of each Chakra in this post. Sometimes knowledge can skew the self enquiry as mind moves into what we think we need in relation to what we think know. As always I encourage innocence to simply observe what is arising. We can discuss any Chakra related questions at the end of the practice.

This Mediation can be done sitting of semi-supine, so make sure you have lots of cushions for support. You want to be comfortable but not so comfortable that you fall asleep!

This is a favourite of my Meditation students at Whitespace Studio. They get very excited if I mention Chakra Meditation! I will be doing it in person at Whitespace this week if you get a chance to join us in person. I will also be offering this at Back To The Roots Festival in the Silent Sanctuary. There’s savings if you get your tickets early!

Here’s the registration link for tonights Meditation Cafe Monday 22nd April at 7.30pm if you’d like to join in.
