Meditation Cafe: Do You Need To Howl?

Tonight it is the Wolf Full Moon in Cancer. If you’re feeling emotional, it might just be Mama Luna giving you a bit of squeeze to release old feelings that are getting in the way of you being and experiencing the fullness of who you are.

I notice today I’m feeling quite grumpy at tech which has me frustrated and going round in circles. Writing this blog today has felt like having to wade through treacle in my mind and I have howled in frustration and swore at my laptop quite a few times, you know, like this tech stuff sells itself that it’s meant to make our life easier and yet the reality of that is not necessarily true. This is very much what a full Moon reveals, reality beyond all the projections and illusions.

Cancer is a highly emotional, empathic and caring sign. Cancer in its detriment can struggle to meet its emotions and challenges head on and can get nippy with sarcasm or indirectness, so try to be aware of this in yourself and forgiving of it in others this next day or so. Encourage and strive for loving directness in your communications. Cancer in exhalation brings the comforting and nurturing energies of the Divine Feminine that helps us to feel safe to express those deep, uncomfortable emotions.

How we respond to our emotional state, and others, determines whether we come to embody the positive aspects of the Wolf energies with it’s leadership qualities, determination, adaptability, sharp intelligence, deep connection with instincts, appetite for freedom, courage, resilience, wisdom, insight, love of community and connection. Or we may slip into its more negative aspects that seeks control, isolates itself, is greedy, selfish, dishonest, can deceive, feels threatened and defensive, lacks trust in someone else or in itself and seeks to exert dominance.

Sometimes we need to be the lone Wolf. We need that time away from the pack to determine who we are, to grow our confidence and a healthy sense of independence, to find our own strength and resilience so we don’t get lost in the pack, to discover what it is we can bring to the family, community, our tribe for our own and the tribes wellbeing. There’s also a time where it becomes detrimental and if we find ourselves in the wilderness for too long, dysfunctionally independent we can cut ourselves off from the connections that support and allow us to put our new found strength into practice and add value to the tribe.

There is a huge difference between choosing to be alone and discerning the company we keep and avoidance of people due to our inability and unwillingness to show up in our family, our tribe, our pack, to howl if necessary, feel the uncomfortable feelings and still be counted, knowing that we have a place in this world and that we belong, beyond others responses to what we bring.

Lone Wolf is it time to come home? If not to your pack, or a beloved but at least to your Self, to your own Heart?

In the Spirit of community support and sharing, my friend Georgina, (a Moonologist known as the Moonicorn!) has this to say about tonights Moon:

Take a moment today to ponder what home & family means to you.
What do you need to release?
Who do you need to forgive?
Where do you need to loosen your grip and let go?
Full moons gift us the opportunity to hand it all over to the universe. Relinquish control and SURRENDER!
