I’m still reading Prayers of the Cosmos by Neil Douglas Klotz, a Sufi Mystic whose lineage goes back to Hazrat Inayat Kahn. I will talk more about my own mystical connection with Hazrat in another blog, suffice to say that many roads I take somehow lead to him!
For those that didn’t see the previous blog Where To Find Unending Love, Neil’s book looks at the direct translations from Aramaic of the words Jesus (supposedly) spoke, as it is generally agreed upon that he would have spoken Aramaic. Jeshua’s (as he would have been known in Aramaic), words appear very much inline with Unity Consciousness, connecting the big I and little I through the Heart (see my poem Dancing In-between the I’s written way before I discovered Aramaic Jesus!) and interestingly, also with The Silent Revolution!
I wrote the above mentioned poem on a Success Coaching training with Dr Robert Holden in 2014. Yesterday I was driving behind a number plate “JOY” and the dealer name underneath was Holden. Next weekend, I realise Robert and Neil are running a retreat together in the UK. Sadly I am not in a position to be able to attend and yet I take note of these synchronicities and the Universe’s pointing.
There appears for many, and most definitely mySelf, an increased awareness of synchronicity when Meditation practice (on Stillness) is consistent.
Prayers of the Cosmos is a very profound and enlightening read, has nothing to do with modern Christianity, in fact I suspect many that call themselves “Christian” may find it extremely challenging or conversely it may align them with what they already know in their Heart beyond any book. That’s not really for me to surmise. Another poem comes to mind.. God and Cheese.

My Heart Word for today is Humility.
Humility in English is currently interpreted as low self-regard and sense of unworthiness. This is a word that has most definitely been downgraded and it’s true meaning distorted.
The Aramaic word L’makikhe, from Jeshua’s 3rd Beattitude was translated as meek in the bible, but actually means “gentle” or “humble” according to Neil.
Neil writes, “Behind these words, the old roots carry the meaning of one who has softened that which is unnaturally hard within, who has submitted or surrendered to God ((as Abwoon which in Aramaic means Birther of creation, Father-Mother of the Cosmos – Not some patriarchal God to be feared!)), or who has liquified rigidities, heaviness (especially moral heaviness) and the interior pain of repressed desires.”
This gives a very different energy to the words “gentle” and “humble”.
When speaking of Enlightenment we often think of light as “the light” instead of striving for a state of “lightness”. There’s a lot of talk about light and dark in modern Spirituality. Light portrayed as good, dark as bad. This is something I’ve observed for a while, the use of language and how easily it can be twisted or manipulated to keep us stuck, or maybe we simply mistranslate the original meaning and intention.
In this state of “lightness”, that is birthed through Humility, “the light” within us becomes palpably visible. It’s a win win. This is another common experience of people that consistently Meditate (on Stillness).
In Meditation, it is through the act of Humility, through the liquifying our rigidities, that we become “light” in both senses of the word. Striving to be “the light” without the “lightness” of Humility appears to me to be an impossibility. This softening within actually gives us more strength, for in the softening we are opening to our real source of power. Abwoon.

I’ve been playing with chanting Abwoon (as one would OM), extending the Ahhhhh sound which vibrates in the Heart and the Ooooo, the Sacral sound of pleasure. I invite you to give it ago. I like it, the cat likes it, you might too.

There’s another, more ancient meaning to the word translated as “meek”. It’s something like: those who carry swords, know how to use them, but keep them sheathed. It conveys a sense of great inner strength and alignment, power to act in and on the world, combined with wisdom and discernment for the benefit of self and others. It is indeed a mighty grace, to be infused with strength and power, and the discipline to direct it to Truth.
Thank you for sharing this. It is a mighty Grace indeed 🙏🏼
