Meditation Cafe: The Power Of Group Meditation

This is going to be a quickie! I’m leaving tomorrow on an adventure, a little working holiday with my cat Tara. My cat sitter became ill so I googled van life with cat. It’s apparently a thing. I have a cat rucksack so she can come hiking with and me and everything.. if only I can get her in it! I’ll let you know how I get on. Next weeks Meditation Cafe will be live-streamed from Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall in Wales.

On to the topic. There are many studies which show the power of group Meditation and the effects it has on the surrounding area. I remember my teacher telling me he’d been down the police station to get the crime stats when he moved to an area, before setting up regular and consistent (daily) group Meditations. After 6 months he went back again and the numbers had decreased. I can’t prove this to you right now, however this was not the first time I’d heard or read about such things.

A group (not even that big a group) of dedicated Meditators can anchor Peace into an area. It’s got to be worth a try. Sometimes having a “cause” or purpose to Meditate, beyond ourselves, can help us to sit our butt down on our cushions and just bloody get on with it. Having a bigger picture can help with our consistency.

Tonight in Meditation Cafe, at the end, we’ll also be practicing the pink light technique. This falls more into the category of guided visualisation with the intent of sending love and healing to firstly ourselves, then our loved ones, anyone we are worrying about and also to groups of people or places where there have been natural disasters.. like Maui.
