Spiritual Bollocks
Is missing the point
Like searching for enlightenment
By smoking a joint
Making a talking stick
And then butting in
Defining yourself by
Your totem Dolphin

It’s giving away
All of your power
To the psychic that says
Life is gonna get sour
Or to the crystal
Stone or feather
Talisman hung on a
Thong of leather

It’s an intellectual concept
And talking a good talk
Doing spiritual stuff
But not walking the walk
It’s when you’re not centred
In the heart of you’re own being
It’s fear of what you are
Or are not seeing

It’s thinking your practices
Make you superior
Or allowing those sorts
To make you feel inferior
It’s justifying spying
On the astral plane
It’s when you think
You’ve gone insane

Cos you took both feet
Off the ground
It’s constantly quoting
“Karmas gonna come around”
Then bitching that
Your life’s a mess
And that it’s not fair that
You’ve got less

It’s when your Reiki
Is better than hers
It’s doing it because
Thats what your Guru prefers
It’s dowsing to see
If he’s Mr Right
It’s pulling too many angel cards
When you’ve lost sight

It’s going round quoting
“We are all one”
Then not being able to tolerate
Your own father or son
It’s avoiding people
Because they’re “toxic”
Is it not separation
Labelling people demonic?

It’s trying to change others
Without changing yourself
It’s labelling yourself
A mermaid or elf
Then using that label
To disassociate
It’s using religious dogma
To breed hate

It’s going to church
As a form of insurance
Whilst treating other faiths
With an air of abhorrence
It’s thinking your path
Is the only way
And the preaching of fear
That in hell you will pay
If you do not obey
If you do not conform
To whatever your religion
Considers reform

It’s continuously looking
For the next ailment to heal
It’s blaming her over there
For the pain that you feel
It’s guilt for not meditating
Every damn day
And when astrology’s an excuse
To not change your ways

It’s when your Yoga practice becomes
Just another addiction
It’s when you start to judge people
Based on their afflictions
There’s a very fine line between
Judgement and observation
So always remember to
Bring Love into the equation

Spiritual bollocks
Is when you forget
That YOU are the Magick
But do not regret
If you have engaged
Know its part of the course
It’s in the curriculum
No need for remorse
Learn to laugh at yourSelves
If it’s spiritual bollocks you’re seeing
Have Patience and Compassion
As you move from
Spiritual “doing” to
Spiritual “Being”

Authors note: Just to clarify I am not saying spirituality or any of these practices are bollocks… I am after all a Yoga student and teacher, Reiki practitioner, crystal therapist and I make charm bracelets! What I’m saying is that it’s far too easy to give away our power to others and use these practices, that are in their most helpful sense meant to unite us with our authentic selves and the “oneness” of creation, to create even more separation.
